Durham, NC
Trinity Park
Trinity Park is a historic district near the East Campus of Duke University in Durham. It is roughly bounded by Green, Duke, Morgan and W. Main Streets, Markham Avenue and Clarendon Street, covers about 282 acres and has 751 contributing buildings, mostly houses built from the 1890s through 1960 in Queen Anne, Craftsman bungalow and revival styles. The neighborhood park sits at the corner of Watts Street and West Trinity Avenue, with a gazebo, gardens and a Little Free Library. The Ninth Street District, across from East Campus, has an independent bookstore, a record store, a coffeehouse and a neighborhood bar. The Brightleaf area on West Main Street has an Ethiopian restaurant and a bar. The neighborhood association runs a yearly calendar with an egg hunt, garden and home tours, National Night Out and a December luminaria night. The neighborhood association's history says residents halted a planned four-lane road in 1972 and adopted the Trinity Park name in 1974. Sales are infrequent, so published medians rest on small samples.
